Luzia Hartsuyker-Curjel Lab

Wood and metal workshop

The Luzia Hartsuyker-Curjel Lab incorporates the wood and metal workshops. The professional quality of the Lab's output and its unparalleled capacity for problem solving attracts participants, as well as artists and institutions from the Meuse-Rhine Euregion and elsewhere. For participants, the Heimo Lab is primarily a place where they can produce their own work; for others they serve as professional workshops which can undertake work on commission.
The Margaret van Eyck Academie considers room for execution and construction, for making, an essential component of the artistic practice. The Luzia Hartsuyker-Curjel Lab offers professional support from concept to execution: objects, sculptures, installations and exhibition scenography can be created in the Heimo Lab.

The Luzia Hartsuyker-Curjel Lab has all the professional equipment for artists to make their own objects, sculptures and installations. Moreover, the lab can build its own machines, such as an extra large CNC cutter, or adapt equipment for specific use.

One of the most inspiring partners of the Luzia Hartsuyker-Curjel Lab is Sitterwerk in St. Gallen (CH), which houses, among other things, a fantastic bronze foundry and which, through its extensive library and materials archive, has a wealth of expertise on hand. Moreover, the Luzia Hartsuyker-Curjel Lab works with other partners, including FLACC in Genk (BE), the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts and Design and FabLab Maastricht.
